Keeping it Weird: Cidercon 2016 hits Portland
Cidercon is North America’s biggest meeting of the minds in the world of cider. For industry veterans and rookies alike, it’s all about learning, connecting, and drinking lots of great cider.
Portland has the perfect cultural terroir to host Cidercon. It’s no secret that the Oregonian town is home to some of the most weird and wonderful cider makers on the planet. The explosion of craft beer in the Pacific North West blew the doors off the barn, and folks like Nat West (AKA Reverand Nat) have been innovating ever since. West and others in the Pacific North West are helping to define what North American cider is, and ultimately can be. The attitude of ‘anything’s possible’ should be strong at this years event – which is going to be big indeed.
If you’re in town for Cidercon you’re lucky because there will be a lot going down (www.ciderconference.com/events) including tap takeovers, special releases, and cider maker dinners. There’s even a ‘Scrumpy and Western’ band playing at a bar on closing night – cider folks are good at getting their inner geeks out.
Team Sunday is packing our bags with samples of Sunday and getting excited to head down to Cidercon. Follow along or jump in on conversation with #Cidercon2016 or just follow us at @SundayCider.
